FAQs for Clients

Do you take insurance?

Yes!

I currently am in network with:

  • Dean/Medica

  • Quartz

  • Group Health Cooperative Southern WI

  • UBH/UHC/Optum/UMR

If you have a different insurance, I can provide a “superbill” if you have Out-of-Network benefits. In that case, you pay me a set amount and submit the superbill to your insurance, who will then reimburse you an allowed amount. Clients are responsible for confirming their insurance will accept my services and what amount they may be responsible for paying out of pocket (deductibles, copays, or coinsurance amounts vary by plan).

Do I have to use insurance?

It is your choice on whether you want to use insurance. Sometimes treatment is easier when there isn’t pressure for a diagnosis, or the concerns about someone else reading your progress notes (whether it’s another healthcare professional or insurance company folks). If you’d prefer to pay out of pocket, let me know and we will discuss “opting out” of using your insurance.

If you do not have insurance, I offer a self-pay rate and a sliding scale for individuals experiencing financial insecurity. Please contact me to inquire about rates.

How often can I be seen, and for how long?

Length and frequency of therapy is highly dependent on a variety of factors, including:

  • Scheduling availability of both the clinician and the client

  • Intensity of symptoms and amount of work done outside of sessions

  • Your own needs and goals - how fast you want to/can safely move

  • Financial or insurance limitations

We will discuss your needs and expectations during an intake session and schedule accordingly. My typical scheduling includes biweekly sessions, with flexibility for scheduling conflicts and intensity of acute issues.

How do we meet?

I use an electronic medical records system called Simple Practice, which has an online HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. You can access it via a web browser or download an app to your phone. All forms and medical notes are also stored in this system, and you will have portal access for secure communications, payment, and scheduling requests.

Are there issues you don’t work with?

I do not see clients who are working on addiction recovery, as that is a specialized field and I am not trained in it. I’m happy to assist with other areas of your life as you are working towards recovery, but do ask that you have a primary AODA therapist for those goals.

I do not offer family therapy, but will see couples and polycules.
